Our past and present
I. The history of the brewing community Hettstedt begins with the surrender of the privilege of brewing beer at the City Hettstedt 29 September 1434 by the Mansfeld Counts Volrad V. For the city origin, it was at that time, an existential condition to settle financially lucrative professions, to find the breweries and the clothiers were many others, the control of the brewing community have a large degree contributed to the damage of the Thirty Years' War Hettstedt zu beseitigen.
Die Leistungen der Braukommune für die Stadt Hettstedt in alter Zeit, kann man vergleichen mit den Leistungen welche das Mansfeld Kombinat für die Region erbracht hat. Die Geschichte der Braukommune und die des Mansfelder Kupferschieferbergbaus sind untrennbar miteinander verbunden.
Schauen wir zurück in eine Zeit in der es noch keine solche Getränkevielfalt und auch keine solche Hygiene gab wie wir es heute kennen. Was gab es denn für den Bergmann oder Hüttenarbeiter außer Milch, Most und Wasser noch anderes als Bier ? Hinzu kommt, dass Brunnenwasser wenn es damals nicht abgekocht getrunken wurde zu Krankheiten führte, das Bier ist aber abgekochtes Wasser ! Die berühmte Hildegard von Bingen forderte therefore not without reason: "cerevisiam bibat> Man drinking beer."
II The Situation of the brewing community has to change fundamentally in the present. Today the Hettstedt "draft beer" brewed according to old recipes in the Quedlinburg Brewery Luedde "and is offered on various occasions.
In the context of the impending anniversary in 2009, promoted sustainable activities set in motion by which the attractiveness of the city Hettstedt and environment. About the project, we will report here soon. To be continued.
