...kann man ja überall in Finnland, aber im Zentrum des Landes sind besonders viele vorhanden. Die finnisch-karelische Seenplatte verfügt insgesamt über (unglaubliche) 55.000, und davon konnte ich mich in den letzten Tagen überzeugen, auch wenn ich nach 1.759 aufgehört habe zu zählen.
Mein erster Stopp in diesem Gebiet war die Stadt Joensuu, in der sich auch eines der besten Museums der Gegend befindet. Dort konnte ich viel über die bewegte Geschichte dieses Gebietes, welches ständig zwischen Schweden, Russland und Finnland herumgereicht wurde, erfahren. Leider war das Wetter während meiner drei Tage in Joensuu fast dauernd bewölkt und eher cool, what was for the city tour, of course not very pleasant.
You have to say, however, that there was not much to see anyway, so I was once again a little time to rest. So I do not fall entirely on the meat (as some have noted in the comments), I provided me with extensive local delicacies. Especially the Munkkis - a kind of Finnish donuts - it has impressed me particularly, as the following picture:
of Joensuu then I set off for Savonlinna, where I also finally the Sonne sehen konnte.
Eigentlich war es sogar fast zu heiss unter Tags, aber am Abend war es dann einfach nur herrlich. Da der gesamte Ort von mehreren kleinen Inseln umgeben ist, konnte man per Brücken auf diese gelangen und dort traumhafte Landschaften geniessen.
Ein besonderes Highlight in Savonlinna war die Besichtigung der mittelalterlichen Burg Olavinlinna. Dabei handelt es sich um eine der am besten erhaltenen Burgen in ganz Skandinavien. Auf der Führung erfuhren wir dann mehr über die Geschichte der Festung und deren heutige Nutzung als Opernfestspielgelände.
After
Savonlinna my travel on to Lahti. The especially for winter sports (cross country skiing, ski jumping, etc.) known location was on my route towards Tampere and so I decided to do there for a few days hold.
Which, of course a must on any visit to Lahti is a visit to the huge ski area. A lift takes visitors to the top of the highest hill, which is a good (and frightening at the same time) get insight into the perspective of the athletes.
Although the city is not really known for their vast amounts of interest, it has fallen to me there really good. I also had the honor once again to live at a Finnish couch-surfer, the computer game sellers (!) Timo. Despite his job, he has really taken a long time to show me his city. On one evening we held with some of his friends a small barbecue.
